I do not think we got it wrong because when you go and play as you did at Tottenham last week I would have questioned my sanity if I came to Arsenal played four at the back and it went that way in the first half.
For me, the main thing in the first half an hour was not the tactics. It was the spirit, the fight of the team. They were quicker. We were lethargic. They were brave. We were not we were nervous. That was the main thing.
I could have made the changes after 10 minutes and that is not Emerson that is probably any of the players to change it slightly because it is hard to convey a message with your voice on the sidelines in this atmosphere. Sometimes it has to be a gesture. We changed and it got better.
It was not so much the three but Mikel Arteta is not silly. He saw us play well at Tottenham and he found a way to pin our five back. We had three men marks one at the back. They had numbers in midfield and won all the second balls. It had to change.
I do not think we can get to where we want to be without aggression. People can talk about us dominating having the majority of possession in every game we have played in the Premier League this season. That is a lovely thing, a great stat that looks good.
Jorginho on sending off
Jorginho believes referee Craig Pawson made the right call in not showing him a second yellow card against Arsenal. The Chelsea midfielder hauled down Matteo Guendouzi in the middle of the pitch and although Pawson awarded the Gunners a free-kick he opted against given the former Napoli man his marching orders.
Arsenal’s players were left incensed by the decision with Alexander Lacazette receiving a booking for his reaction to the call. And then things were made even worse for Mikel Arteta’s side when Jorginho scored Chelsea’s equalizer at the Emirates.
