Premier League: Freddie Admits Man City beat Arsenal through tactics and quality

We all knew Arsenal were in for a hard game yesterday when the defending Champions Man City came to town, and Pep Guardiola’s side made it look all too easy to bamboozle our mockery of a defense. Football fanatics from around the world can obtain Premier League Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.

When De Bruyne put the visitors 1-0 up with a brilliant shot from long range in the second minute, we knew that it would be near impossible to come away with anything from the game, and when Sterling made it two after just 15 minutes, Arsenal was as good as dead and buried and it looked like we were in for a landslide defeat.

De Bruyne made it comfortably 3-0 before half-time, and it was left to poor old Freddie Ljungberg to try and explain the differences between the sides in the after-match conference. “Of course we know in the last couple of years that we’ve struggled against City at home, so we knew that before the game started,” he said.

Freddie’s Explanation:

“We started well when Martinelli had a chance and we thought, ‘Oh, this looks good’. But we got done on the transitions again. One of the goals we had five of us against two of them and they still scored.

“We worked a lot on being balanced and having players back for the counter, but then De Bruyne showed his quality. Not many players can score those goals like he did today from small chances. Maybe it shows the difference in the teams.

“They score from those chances with top, top players. I think what we can learn is that we got done on the transitions again. If you look at City, when we were able to counter against them – and that was one of our game plans they had five yellow cards from bringing us down when we had a chance to counter.

“That’s tactical and they worked on that. That’s something that we need to do. Maybe we need to learn to be more cynical when opponents have a chance to counter us. That is a bit of a weakness of ours and maybe we need to take those fouls.

“First of all, I think they take things on board. We have looked at clips about how we changed our structure. We’re actually there whereas before we didn’t have any players there for the transition. Now we are there. Of course, now the next part is that we need to stop the action, to create something.

“I can’t remember which player it was but we were three against one, it got a deflection and then came out to De Bruyne. That’s a small thing but that’s something we have to work on: how to defend. But I think we sorted organization a bit, sort of, on the transition.

Man City’s Possession:

“I must say that if you’re 3-0 down against a team likes City who can play well with possession, it’s tough. I said at half-time that I knew it was hard, especially against City. Liverpool and City are in a league of their own at the moment.

“I said it’s about pride. They had to go out and show in the second half, even if they don’t react and I knew it would be difficult to win 4-3, but there should be no chance of them scoring another goal. We tried to at least impose ourselves a little bit.

“It was hard for them because City kept the possession well. Sometimes we did as well between the boxes, we understood the game plan of trying to change it and open them up a bit. But we were not dangerous enough. We had some small half-chances where something could have happened. When they had their chances, De Bruyne smashed it straight in the net.”

Well, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy against Man City, but it is still hard to watch a game where we only get one shot on target in the whole 90 minutes, and it looks like Freddie or whoever his replacement will be has got a hell of a job on their hands to get this lot back on track.

Premier League: Jose Mourinho Man Utd favorite snubs reunion at Tottenham

Former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has ruled out a reunion with ex-Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho at Tottenham.

Belgian international Fellini, who was brought to Old Trafford by David Moyes in 2013, worked with Mourinho at the club between May 2016 and December 2018 making 57 Premier League appearances under the Portuguese. Football fans from around the world can purchase Premier League Football Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.

However, Fellaini saw his game time diminish following the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm with the midfielder sold to Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng in February.

The 32-year-old has two years including the option of an extra year on his contract and recent reports have linked him with a move back to England to join up with Mourinho. However, speaking to Eleven Sports Fellaini ruled out the possibility of such a move while confirming that the pair is still in contact.

About Jose Marouane Fellaini saying

“Jose is special for me. We text each other we call each other from time to time,” he said. He is taken over at Spurs and he is doing well. I wish him all the best. But I am good where I am now.”

In other Tottenham news Mourinho has reportedly put a new striker top of his wish list for the January transfer window and is close to securing a deal.

It is claimed that Mourinho wants to keep Harry Kane fresh for the latter part of the season as Spurs look to fight for a place in the top four of the Premier League having been 14th when Mauricio Pochettino left.

Reports in Turkey claim that Fenerbahce targetman Vedat Muriqi is on Tottenham’s radar with scouts having watched the Turkey international’s progress closely over the past few months. It is also said that Spurs are now ready to meet the £18m price tag Fenerbahce have placed on Muriqi’s head.

Premier League: Ancelotti ready to join Arsenal after Napoli Sacking

Carlo Ancelotti is said to have his ‘bags packed’ and is ready to take over at Arsenal. Football fanatics from around the world can obtain Premier League Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.

Despite only recently being sacked by Napoli, Italian outlet Repubblica claim that he is heading to London. The report claims that Ancelotti has already had contact with Arsenal and will head to England ‘where a great return to the Premier League awaits’.

A decision was expected to be made on Ancelotti’s future after Napoli’s clash with Genk in the Champions League and that it was, despite a comfortable 4-0 win for the Partenope.

Arsenal Verdict:

Ancelotti may no longer be at the very top of European management, but if he does go on to join Arsenal there will be a huge sense of relief around North London.

He is by far the most experienced candidate to be linked with the job and when you compare him to some of the more surprising names that have emerged in the last week or so, Ancelotti is by the most suitable candidate.

The likes of Paulo Sousa and Vitor Pereira have been touted as potential Emery replacements and Ancelotti is simply a cut above.

The former Real Madrid boss would arrive after two disappointing spells with Bayern Munich and Napoli, but he’d be keen to get himself back on track.

He’s a manager with tremendous Champions League experience and knows exactly what it takes to win the Premier League. His Chelsea side played some of the most attacking and expansive football the league has ever seen during his previous spell in England.

Premier League: Erling Haaland transfer moves closer, Chelsea make €35m demand

RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland has taken a step earlier to exit the Austrian side in January after visiting two Bundesliga clubs this week. The 19-year-old has been associated with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal but Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are at the front of the line according to Sky in Germany.

Haaland has shined this season with a goals arrival that includes eight strikes in six Champion Leagues. Football fans from around the world can purchase Premier League Football Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.

Leicester lead hunt for striker

Leicester City is at the front of the line for the services of young Denmark striker Wahid Faghir according to reports from the Scandinavian state. The 16-year-old counted 16 goals for Vejle Boldklub’s U17 side previous season and has hit five goals for the U19 outfit this term.

Other clubs from the Premier League and crosswise Europe are also observing a move for the youngster but the report states that Leicester alongside Ajax is presently leading the hunt.

Chelsea make €35m Alonso demand

Chelsea has slapped a heavy price-tag of €35m upon Spanish full-back Marcos Alonso, according to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness. The full-back is heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge in January and is attracting the interest of Inter Milan who is managed by former Blues boss Antonio Conte.

However, Chelsea’s price-tag could show to be problematical particularly as Inter are looking for a deal that would originally be on loan.

Everton make approach for Ibrahimovic

Manager less Everton are lining up a shock move for former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and have made contact with his agent Mino Raiola, Area Napoli states. The veteran striker is on the hunt for a new club after leaving MLS franchise LA Galaxy and has been touted with a return to the Premier League, while clubs in Italy also hold an interest in his services.

Everton are apparently ready to steal a hike though as they are ready to make Ibrahimovic their highest-earner by offering him a deal until the end of the term with the option of an extension for the next year.

Premier League: Chelsea's possible line-up in January if triple transfer raid comes off

Chelsea are eyeing three huge transfer moves this winter after their transfer ban was lifted, so how could the Blues line up if they manage to pull of the triple swoop?

Chelsea was given an early Christmas present earlier this month when their transfer ban was lifted for the January window. Football fans from around the world can purchase Premier League Football Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.

Having been unable to sign players over the summer, the Blues are expected to delve into the market this winter. One name on their wish list is former Stamford Bridge man Nathan Ake who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s finest defenders at Bournemouth.

The second player to be linked with Chelsea is Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, who has been a strong performer in the top flight for several years with different clubs.

Finally, the third man the Blues would like to land is Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, one of the most prolific strikers in French football.

So how would these three optimistic swoops fit in in west London going into the second half of the season?

Nathan Ake would ideally join a fit-again Antonio Rudiger in the heart of the Blues defense, with no changes in goal or at full-back from Frank Lampard’s current set up.

There is also no need for any movement in midfield, with the current trio of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho some of Lampard’s best performers this term.

In attack Christian Pulisic is the only player to keep his spot with Zaha having to fit in on the right-wing while Dembele lines up as the solo striker regularly switching with Tammy Abraham.

Lampard discussing the Blues’ plans for the January window:

Lampard has kept his cards fairly close to his chest when discussing the Blues’ plans for the January window recently.

He said: “I think we have found techniques in the team where we can still be inexpensive. As we move frontward and we need to improve the team, it will be done with a view to what we have and where we can get well.”

I think those kind of contests should be ones that the young players stand up to. If we do carry players in that should be one where they say, Okay I need to show the player I am. Knowing them as players and characters I think they have all caught that.
